it has to be said...

...i will most definitely enjoy the new starbucks they are putting in on the corner. what's the big deal you ask? the big deal is called sip coffeehouse which is right across the street from this not-yet-opened corporate coffee wonder we call starbucks. when my roommate first told me they were opening a starbucks, i was sad and worried. sip has been around for a while and every time i've gone in there, the people have been extremely friendly, their baked goods delicioso, and their coffee outstanding. it's also independently owned, and, well, you do the math. corporate giant vs. tiny neighborhood coffeehouse.

and i do mean tiny. the inside of sip is small. very, very small. there is a loveseat in the middle of the space, surrounded by maybe 6 chairs around the rest of the room and that's it. the rest is taken up by floorspace and the barista counter.

so, at first, i was adamently against starbucks coming into our neighborhood... but then i thought about it. it's on the same block as us, so we don't have to cross the busy intersection seperating us from sip. also, it's bigger. if you sit down in starbucks you could probably stretch out your legs (or even my legs which, i'm sure, are way shorter than yours) and not trip the barista or this guy george who, when he walked in on my last visit to sip, was greeted by everyone with a "hey george!" or "how you doin' george?" he must be well-liked.

well, for the sanctity of the neighborhood and george, i hope sip does not go under and shows the corporate world a thing or two. i, however, will be at starbucks. i'm not proud, i'm addicted.

i just deleted the last blog i wrote because i couldn't stand to look at it. i'll just say this, i'm scared of my new job and i don't want to have to think about it if i don't have to.

who thinks i should stay in chicago for grad school?
